CONFESSOR JOE
Terry Wells's review (BOOK ONE)

5 of 5 stars
Confessor Joe kept me laughing thoroughly. There's no other story like it. It's refreshing to read a religion-based book that's comedic rather than somber.

A priest shuffling his confessional line? The premise is certainly unique. The rest of Confessor Joe's antics are just as zany as he keeps his congregation in line and on their toes in this collection of vignettes. It's a series of fun, fun, fun that almost reminds me of a season of Monk. No detective work here, but lots of similarly veined humor: Father Joe goes to California. Father Joe leaves the Priesthood (almost). Father Joe in Class. Father Joe... [you get the idea].Despite the humor, there is more at work here. Sure, on the surface it's a simple and easy read you can enjoy for the laughs or... You can ponder the real intent of the author. I love this sort of multi-layered story. And Confessor Joe holds a labyrinth of double meanings if you want to search for them, almost the literary equivalent of a Roger Corman flick. So if you like B-movies, the strange, the unexpected and the bizarre then this oddball little comedy is sure to tickle your funny bones while it tweaks your imagination. Give this collection of tales a try, I'm glad I did.

The beginning of a three-part series starring Father Joe, a Priest who is suffering a mid-life crisis, who wonders if he's cut out for the ministry or if he needs to get a job and get married. Josephine Calabrese hits the ball out of the park with her characters, based on her own imagination and having fun with the Catholic church of her imatination. Written in a 'stream-of-consciousness' style, which took me a little getting used to, but once adapting to it I found myself laughing at the antics of Father Joe and his sister Caroline.

CONFESSOR JOE
BOOK THREE
A hilarious, must read book!
By ctr girl on July 11, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition Verified Purchase (BOOK THREE)
Confessor Joe Book Three is another hilarious book! Seriously, you have to read this series if you're looking to laugh hard. Father Joe gets roped into family life, helping orphans with his sister, Caroline, who can be just as much trouble as himself. Their disciplining techniques are priceless. Really, a chainsaw. And, what's this about a tape recorder? This third book is bizarre, creative, and laugh-out-loud funny. I absolutely love Josephine's brilliant wit and fast-paced storyline. A must read!
Being a Chicagoan all my life, I grew up in a melting pot of immigrants. My father was born in Italy. As for my mother, she was born in Chicago from immigrant parents from Italy.
Many immigrants settled near the lake front when they arrived in Chicago, as did my father. My maternal grandparents settled in Louisiana and relocated to Chicago. With urban renewal, eminent domain, many immigrants had to relocate, as did my family.
My parents stressed education and I discovered a love for reading and writing at an early age. My education has been in a Catholic School System throughout my grammar school, highschool, and college years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (K-9).(Certification)
I've enjoyed teaching in various school systems in the city and suburbs.
Thus far, I've published a poetry book entitled READ WITH YOUR HEART AND SOUL. I've also written the lyrics to the songs entitled
AN IMMIGRANT MAN AND HIS FAMILY and MY LONGING which are from poems you'll find in my poetry book READ WITH YOUR HEART AND SOUL. The songs are in CD and MP3 format. Also, check out the three humorous fiction books I've written entitled CONFESSOR JOE, CONFESSOR JOE BOOK TWO, and CONFESSOR JOE BOOK THREE which are in e-reader form. I've written two fiction horror books and combined these two books into one book entitled
Horrors Released from Hospital Floors/Horrors Released from Hospital Floors Book Two.
When I'm not reading, writing, teaching, and publishing, I enjoy
gardening, swimming, and traveling. When I travel, I prefer seeing
what life is truly like in a location, studing the culture
and economic conditions of an area.

Father Joe has an unconventional way of handling things; this is what gets him temporarily placed in hell. He encounters the many parishioners whose confessions he has heard.

Confessor Joe Book Three is a book of fiction. It is comprised of humor and emotion. Stories will unravel in surprising ways.
Father Joe leaves the priesthood, marries, and adopts a child. After his wife's death, his sister Caroline, the nuns, and priests help raise not only Jerry but also twin girls he adopts later. The mischievous and good deeds of these children amaze so many.
The children find antique documents in the Vatican which reveal why the celibacy of priests was initiated. The ridiculous celibacy initiation was immediately removed from the requirements of priesthood. Priests are allowed to marry and there is a baby boom.
There is an eventual welcoming of Jerry's biological dad, not just into the family but also the church. These are stories of compassion.
You'll read stories written by a priest throughout his life. You'll be entertained with the ins and outs of each story.

CONFESSOR JOE BOOK TWO
Feeling down...read this book!
By Belmont on February 12, 2015

I had so much fun reading Confessor Joe, Book Two. I thought Book One was funny, but I found this funnier. The author was good in creating vivid scenes for her characters. Good read for those feeling down. I like the way she ended Book Two.
Holy Joe book 2
By R. J. Bennett on March 1, 2015
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the confinuing adventures of Father Joe, a Priest going through a mid-life crisis who manages to find some stress relief by recruiting a retired priest to take over some duties, namely, confessions from a known Prostitute. Hearing these confessions somehow breaths new life into the older Priest, and a nosey nun has taken notice. Father Joe's sister Caroline pays a visit, and a baby has been left on the Parish doorstep, discovered and initially taken care of by Father Joe. I think Josephine Calabrese should take books 1 & 2 and turn them into a stage play, and if book 3 is more of the same, then perhaps a television series. I never knew it was so much fun to be a Priest.

I thought Confessor Joe Book One and Book Two were amusing, but Confessor Joe Book Three was the funniest in the series.
I was amused by the author's way of creating funny characters and twisting scenes that added humor to the story.
Josephine is a humorous writer and I enjoyed reading the series.
Characters you'll never forget ... !
By R. J. Bennett on March 6, 2015
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase (BOOK THREE)
Great story, I look forward to the following tales of Father Joe and Jerry and Caroline and Sister Carol and Nicole and Renee and Father C. and Father Roach and even the Pope ... all great characters which need to be turned into a stage play or a television mini-series. Follow the stream-of-consciousness writings of Josephine Calabrese as she takes Father Joe out of the Priesthood and into marriage and widow-hood and back into the Priesthood again, after having adopted a child and then two more later on, recruiting the help of his real sister to keep his children in line. Good story, fun to read, wholesome for the most part, and lots of imagination. A real treat for Italians and Catholics, especially, and fun for all readers. I think you can read this to your kids at bedtime even, they'd get a kick out of how a church is run behind the scenes.

5.0 out of 5 starsAn unusual and refreshing horror story.

This book was very entertaining and refreshing.
It was different from other books I read.
The book is perfectly named, Horrors Released from Hospital Floors.
It is all about malpractice by doctors and hospital staff.
Those who died because of the doctors' carelessness returned to haunt the hospital employees, and that resulted in a drastic reduction of patients and eventual closure of the hospital.
Ironically, the building was sold, demolished, and a mall for sciences constructed in its place.
The story gets more interesting at that point when the author begins her own investigation to determine if the occupants of the mall were experiencing supernatural sightings.
Her findings will shock you.
She falls asleep while awaiting surgery and has a beautiful but strange dream.
Read the book to find out about the strange occurrences at the hospital and mall, and how they relate to her dream.
I enjoyed this book very much and read it all in one day and a half.
It was hard to put down.
